The Assistance League of Klamath Basin (ALKB) is an example of the incredible power of volunteerism. For over 30 years, this nonprofit has been dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children and their families in the Klamath Basin.
Powered by the passion and dedication of its volunteers, and local support through donations, ALKB has been able to provide essential support and resources to those in need — truly changing lives.
Operation School Bell — Empowering Students Through New Clothing
One of the flagship programs of the Assistance League is Operation School Bell, which provides new, school-appropriate clothing for students in need.
Thanks to volunteers, strong community donation support, partnerships with companies such as Fred Meyer, and generous grants, ALKB is able to instill a sense of pride and confidence in students — allowing them to focus on their education without the worry of inadequate attire.
ALKB serves 39 schools in the Klamath County and Klamath Falls City area, as well as Tulelake in Northern California, providing students the attire they need to succeed.
The Numbers
During the 2019–2020 school year, Operation School Bell served 950 students.
The following 2020–2021 school year, the program saw an increased need due to the COVID-19 pandemic, wildfires, and price increases — and ALKB rose to the moment, serving more students than ever before.
