For over six decades, the Klamath Falls Gospel Mission (KFGM) has stood as a beacon of hope in Klamath Falls, transcending mere charity to offer a transformative hand to those grappling with seemingly insurmountable challenges. This non-denominational, nonprofit organization, deeply rooted in Christian values, is committed to providing rescue, recovery, and renewal services that not only address immediate needs but also empower individuals to break free from the cycles of addiction and homelessness.

Addressing the Root Causes

KFGM addresses the core issues that perpetuate cycles of homelessness and addiction — standing shoulder to shoulder with individuals during their journey of self-discovery and change from the inside out. The Mission focuses on helping individuals deal with their underlying issues, identifying and developing the necessary life skills for long-term success.

The outcomes extend beyond personal self-sufficiency, fostering multigenerational change as destructive patterns within families are replaced with resilience and productivity.

The Scale of the Crisis

According to the annual HUD Point in Time (PIT) count data, a concerning trend in Oregon is emerging: the rate of unsheltered, unaccompanied homeless youth and families has surged, placing the state second only to California in overall homelessness.

Oregon's overall homelessness increased by a staggering 12.15% from 2022 to 2023, and since the start of the pandemic, the rate has been climbing steadily. In Klamath County specifically, KFGM has seen growing demand for shelter, meals, and recovery programs.

What KFGM Does

KFGM operates a comprehensive set of programs:

  • Emergency shelter — providing safe overnight accommodations for individuals and families in crisis
  • Meals — daily nourishment for residents and walk-ins
  • Recovery programs — long-term residential programs that address addiction at its root through life skills, faith-based counseling, and work training
  • Job readiness — helping participants reenter the workforce with confidence
  • Family stabilization — connecting struggling families with resources before homelessness becomes the only option

How You Can Help

KFGM relies on the generosity of the Klamath Basin community. Donations of time, money, food, clothing, and household items all keep the Mission's doors open. Volunteer opportunities range from kitchen help to mentorship for program participants.
