When we speak of dedication towards the community, the Biggs Family stands out in a big way! Their profound love for and bond with the Klamath Basin is truly extraordinary. Andrew and Heidi Biggs, both talented and intelligent, crossed paths in Washington, DC, back in 1999. At the time, they were both making strides in their respective careers within the sphere of social security.
Andrew, an up-and-coming economist holding two master's degrees and a PhD from the prestigious London School of Economics, was a respected figure in the research circles focusing on retirement and the complexities of the U.S. social security system.
On the other hand, Heidi, a local beauty possessing intellect and charm, was born and raised in Klamath Falls. As a proud alumna of Mazama High School, she later pursued her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University and earned a Juris Doctorate from Willamette University. Heidi was also leaving her imprint as she collaborated with lobbyists and legal wizards on a crucial social security reform legislation penned by Richard “Dick” Wendt – a respected industrialist from Klamath Falls and founder of JELD-WEN, Inc. She was chosen to advocate for this bill in Washington, DC, an opportunity that filled her with excitement as it allowed her the privilege to meet Andrew.
Thanks to the Biggs Family for sharing their story in the January 2023 edition of Klamath Living Magazine.
