FOR RELEASE ON MONDAY, AUGUST 24TH 2026 Klamath Falls, August 24, 2026 - The City of Klamath Falls is pleased to introduce Peter Hughes as Development Services Director. Mr. Hughes has spent the last several years working in community development and planning leadership. He spent 10 years in local government, including five years in leadership roles, and has worked across the country in Arizona, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Illinois. His experience includes working with municipal, county, and special-purpose local governments in communities ranging from rural areas to growing metropolitan regions. Most recently, he served as Community Development Director for the Village of North Riverside, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago. During his tenure, he oversaw the Village’s planning, urban and economic development efforts. His work included adoption of a new Comprehensive Plan, redevelopment, and new commercial construction, as well as helping secure grant funding for urban forestry, corridor planning, and flood mitigation initiatives. Prior to North Riverside, Hughes worked for the City of Spring Hill, Tennessee, a rapidly growing community in the Nashville metropolitan area. While there, he worked on multiple new and ongoing mixed-use developments each valued at more than $100 million, gaining experience with large-scale development and the planning and infrastructure needs associated with a rapidly growing community. Hughes is a Certified Floodplain Manager and holds bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Policy and Planning and Geography from Virginia Tech. He is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at the University of Iowa. “I am excited to join a great organization and team” Hughes said. “I look forward to learning about the community and, most importantly, listening to and learning from the people who know Klamath Falls best.” Hughes and his wife, Rebecca, are relocating to Klamath Falls with their family and look forward to making Klamath Falls their home.
