The Sky Lakes Wellness Center is a lifestyle-medicine clinic that strives to enhance quality of life through an innovative, compassionate, and personalized approach.
What Is a Lifestyle-Medicine Clinic?
Practicing lifestyle medicine means we help people manage their health and prevent chronic disease through lifestyle interventions — like nutrition, quality sleep, managing stress, and maintaining social connections.
Our multidisciplinary team includes a physician, dietitian, Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA), health educator, and certified group-fitness instructors.
The Founding Story
The clinic opened its doors in 2015, thanks to the vision of Katherine Pope and the late Dr. Stephanie Van Dyke. Pioneers for health, Pope and Van Dyke pitched the idea of a wellness clinic all over the country, including at Sky Lakes Medical Center. The Sky Lakes Board of Directors and then-CEO Paul Stewart were supportive of the model — and the clinic became one of the first hospital-affiliated lifestyle-medicine clinics in the region.
A decade later, that early bet has paid off in lives changed across the Klamath Basin.
How We Work
We're a team-based clinic that:
- Inspires — We empower everyone in our community to create positive changes.
- Cares — We provide innovative and unique solutions, knowing that one-size doesn't fit all.
- Supports — With more ways than ever to provide support to those who need it.
Mission and Vision
Mission: To empower everyone to live a healthier life by practicing preventive medicine.
Vision: We will demonstrate a more effective healthcare model that strengthens health and wellbeing through chronic disease prevention and reversal, community policy and built-environment efforts, and innovation.
What We Offer
Group Medical Visits — Join our providers for Group Medical Visits where we discuss disease facts, treatments, and interventions. Why Group Medical Visits? The camaraderie and the questions. You never knew you had a particular question until someone else asked it — group format unlocks the kind of patient learning that one-on-one visits often can't.
Ancillary Classes — We offer cooking, mindfulness, sleep, and fitness classes all year round. If you want a quick and easy way to take action on your health, join us for one of our upcoming class offerings.
One-on-one consults — Our team works with patients individually on nutrition, mental health, fitness, and stress management — coordinated with the patient's primary care physician.
Who We Serve
We serve all of Klamath County — every age, every income, every starting point.
Why It Matters
Most healthcare is built around reacting to disease once it's already present. The Sky Lakes Wellness Center is built around the much smarter, much harder work of preventing chronic disease in the first place — and, where it's already present, partnering with patients to reverse it.
That work is slow, relational, and unglamorous. It's also exactly the kind of work Klamath County needs more of — and the kind of team-based, evidence-based care that defines what Sky Lakes is building.
