A Klamath Falls software developer is asking local business owners a simple question before he builds anything more: what would you use it for?
Troy Miller, publisher of Klamath Living and founder of Lucky Duck Productions LLC, has applied to the Klamath County Economic Development Grant to package a business-operations system he built and has run locally for two years. The system holds a business's customer records, scheduling, quotes and invoices, email and files in one place, with an AI assistant working across all of it, on a small server kept on-site. Two Klamath Basin businesses have run on it since earlier this year.
If the grant is awarded, four Klamath County businesses would receive the system during the project year, with the grant covering the equipment and setup and each business paying the monthly service like any customer.
"I want to know what the real problem is in your business, the thing that eats your evenings, the software you pay for and do not use," Miller said. "If a system like this existed, and someone local set it up and looked after it, what would you want it to do?"
Miller, a fourth-generation Klamath Basin resident, said he is especially interested in hearing from businesses outside Klamath Falls, in Bonanza, Chiloquin, Malin, Merrill and Gilchrist, and the ranching and farming operations across the Basin, where technical help is far away.
