Celebrating Some of Our Community's Marvelous Mothers! By Our Residents

My mom Whitney is a constant reminder to me of what love looks like, and how its greatest form is laying your life down for those you love. She is the hardest working, most loyal woman I know, and I am so grateful she is, my momma.”

“My Mom is a special person. She is a lifelong social worker, which illustrates her kindness and her dedication to the care she has for others. Being a chronically ill child, my Mom and I had a unique relationship. She was my parent, my companion, my caregiver, and most importantly-my advocate during really hard years of my life. We would spend months living in hospital rooms together and I cannot imagine what that would have been like without the love, support, and care my Mom gave to me. Because of these formative experiences, we are still all these years later- incredibly close. I always tell people my Mom truly is the best person I know, and I do not think I am exaggerating. I strive to follow her example every day.”

“Italian mother, and ‘Nonni’ to all her grandchildren, my mom was my trusted confidante---we spoke daily. She was an amazing cook and candy maker, taking great care to teach me her special recipes each step of the way. I miss talking with her while we cooked---she had all the answers and generously shared important life lessons. She was a strong woman and a mother who truly listened to my brother, Mike, and I. We were richly blessed to call her our mom. I could not have accomplished what I did in my professional career if she had not been there, alongside us, to help with my children. She was always in attendance at all the grandchildren’s events and activities. She was devoted to cheering on all of us on and supporting our efforts, throughout her life.”

“My mother is the strongest person I know. As a stay-at-home mother she made sure our home was a place of unconditional love and belonging. It was a refuge from the crazy world. A great life lesson she taught all six of her kids was to wake up early no matter how late you went to bed. If she caught you sleeping in, she would walk right into your room and announce, “Get Up! You are wasting the day!”  No one can sleep after that declaration. She taught us to never waste a moment. Even to this day, when I visit my mom, I cannot sleep in. I feel like I am missing out.”

“My mom raised three daughters who all wanted to be just like her: fun, friendly, and fit. If she is not at the gym doing Pilates, she is with her friends hiking, visiting museums, or enjoying the San Francisco Symphony. She is always smiling, and the sun shines brighter when she is near.”
